What is this fundraiser all about?

The 8-year-old son of one of my dearest nearly-lifelong friends is going through extremely aggressive cancer treatment for the second time. The first time around, when he was 5, his parents (despite having health insurance) got hit with tens of thousands of dollars in copays and medical bills that fell through the insurance cracks.

Thanny’s mom is like a sister to me, and I have considered her kids to be my nieces and nephews from the moment they were born. These people are my “chosen family” and it absolutely breaks my heart to see them going through this again.

So I established this fund to help with Thanny’s next round of medical bills.

Every single dollar will help, so even if you can only give a few, it will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you!!!

Love,
Pam

What Is Rhabdomyosarcoma?

Cancer starts when cells in the body begin to grow out of control. Cells in nearly any part of the body can become cancer, and can spread to other areas of the body. To learn more about how cancers start and spread, see What Is Cancer? For information about the differences between childhood cancers and adult cancers, see Cancer in Children.

Sarcomas are cancers that develop from connective tissues in the body, such as muscles, fat, bones, the linings of joints, or blood vessels. There are many types of sarcomas.

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a type of sarcoma made up of cells that normally develop into skeletal (voluntary) muscles. These are muscles that we control to move parts of our body.
